Kickstarter Campaign Success
THANK YOU everyone for helping me reach the kickstarter goal and making this book possible!!!
Shows in San Francisco and Hartford
| Lots of stuff going on these days. I have a show up in Hartford that was reviewed by the Hartford Courant and for which I was interviewed on WNPR. Also, I'm showing three new pictures and a video from Jordan for the first time at the San Francisco Art Institute and am giving a public conversation (with my friend Jessica Ingram) as part of the show. I thought the poster looked pretty cool the way they designed it. | ![]() |
Kickstarter Campaign
| I just started my Kickstarter campaign. I'm looking to raise money to publish the book I've made with Sudden Flowers in Ethiopia. Please consider contributing or passing it on to friends. There are some great rewards I'm offering to those who do. Thanks!!! |

Real Art Ways
I was chosen by a jury of fabulous people (Deb Willis, Andrea Grover, and Susan Cross) as a Step Up Awardee, so I will be having a solo show in July - October 2011. I am producing video work with one of my friends in Ethiopia, Tinsae Muluneh. The title of the show is Tinsae but there is a quote that has been in my head for a while: "Intimacy is the Reconciliation Between Foreignness and Habit." (From Gregg Bordowitz)
It will be an ambitious and challenging install but the folks at RAW have been great and I am honored that in conjunction with my exhibition, they will host two of my favorite Ethiopian-American bands to play: Meklit Hadero and Debo Band (with dance troupe Fendika too!). I'm really excited to be associated with these amazing artists.
